A Humble Start With Big Impact
Our journey began on April 1, 1979, when Roy and Roxanne Genson decided to build something of their own in Moravia, NY. With Roy’s hands-on expertise—a skill passed down from his father—and Roxanne’s sharp bookkeeping, they started Genson Overhead Door right from their home. It was a classic family operation built on a simple foundation: do honest work and treat people right. Those early days were fueled by passion and a commitment to serving their neighbors, laying the groundwork for everything that was to come.
We Never Stop Growing
Like any good story, ours is one of growth. From those humble beginnings, we expanded step by step. First came the dedicated service trucks, then a proper warehouse in Locke, NY, to house our growing operations. The family aspect grew stronger in the 1990s when Roy and Roxanne’s sons, Kevin and Greg, officially joined the business. They learned the trade from the ground up, eventually taking the reins and continuing the legacy their parents started. This transition ensured that the family values of trust and quality service remained at the heart of our company.
45 Years And Still Going Strong
Today, Genson Overhead Door is a testament to what started over four decades ago. In 2024, we proudly celebrated 45 years in business, a milestone that makes us incredibly grateful for the communities we serve. Our family has grown to include a dedicated staff of around 18 people and a fleet of 17 iconic “RED” service vehicles that you can spot across the region. Annually, we complete over 3,000 jobs, providing reliable service to Central New York, the Southern Tier, and the Finger Lakes. We’ve come a long way from that home office, but our mission remains the same: to deliver exceptional service with a friendly, familiar touch.
